Here are some things we’re on the lookout for in 2023.

1.PLAYERS

With the passage of time, arcadism is becoming increasingly accessible and relevant in different parts of the world. The online discourse around arcadism has inspired many to discover the beauty and significance of contemporary arcade culture. This includes recognizing and appreciating the contributions of arcade goers, players, and content creators. The legacy of great arcade players will continue to be honored, and their stories will be kept alive for future generations.

The design of contemporary arcade spaces is also undergoing a transformation, thanks to advancements in technology, such as text-to-image AI. The resulting designs are unlike anything previously seen and are sure to inspire others to create the perfect arcade homes and commercial spaces. Arcade culture is not dying, but evolving with the times. Its spirit is indomitable.

4. STEPHENGUISE

Meanwhile, maker @stephenguise has introduced a new modular fightstick-input device called the "Splitbox". This device can be broken down into three separate pieces, allowing for easy portability while still providing the option to switch between stick, hitbox, or mixbox controls. This plug-and-play device is a game-changer in the arcade stick world and allows players to switch between different fighting styles with ease.

5. ENTH CREATIONS

Enth Creations is a company that represents the perfect blend of quality and aesthetics in fightsticks. Their hardware incorporates elements from various subcultures, such as graffiti, futuristic industrialism, minimalism, fiberglass vibes, and subliminal nods to arcadism. Enth's fightsticks offer a truly unique experience that the arcade community has been longing for.

6.PRIXWORKSHOP by Esther Ng

Esther Ng is a successful New Zealand designer who runs the label "Prix Workshop". Her clothing has been worn by celebrities such as Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner. Gaming has a significant influence on her designs, and she recently released a successful Tekken capsule collection which sold out in less than an hour. Esther is now working on her next drops and Arcade Press readers are eagerly waiting to see what she has in store for them in 2023. The proper fusion of streetwear and arcade culture, known as "arcadism," is happening right now.

7. ARKHAIVES AT MIDNIGHT

The YouTube channel and archivist known as "Arkhaives at Midnight" has been making waves in recent years with their unique and captivating content. Collaborating with Arcade Press, they produce both collaborative projects and off-the-beaten-path, abstract programming and video series on their channel. The mission of Arkhaives is to bring the process and research to the public in an effort to foster understanding through education.

Arkhaives has been instrumental in bringing the concept of Arcadism theory to life and exploring the intersections of fighting games, ancient history, and symbolism. With a constantly evolving channel and the "DVD" video series featuring installments that range from 5 to 10 hours, viewers can expect a deep dive into arcade theory and fighting game content that breaks away from traditional modes of presentation.

If you're looking for in-depth and long-form content that pushes the boundaries of traditional gaming analysis, be sure to check out Arkhaives at Midnight on YouTube. Note that some videos may not always be available, so be sure to check their current lineup.
